Cos’è l’endonzia?

L’Endodonzia è la branca dell’odontoiatria che si occupa della polpa del dente. All’interno del dente, sotto la dentina, c’è un tessuto molle chiamato polpa dentaria. Da essa si forma il tessuto duro del dente durante lo sviluppo. La polpa si estende dalla corona fino alla punta delle radici, dove essa si connette con il tessuto circostante, cioè con l’osso.
Quando i tessuti che circondano la radice dentale si ammalano o danneggiano a causa di carie o traumi, il trattamento endodontico effettuato dagli esperti di uno studio dentistico permette di salvare il dente.

Il trattamento endodontico, detto anche cura canalare o devitalizzazione, ed è necessario quando la polpa del dente si infiamma, a causa dei batteri, che una volta raggiunta la polpa del dente, ne causano l’infiammazione e poi la morte (necrosi).
Una volta che la polpa è morta, essi attraversano l’apice della radice e riescono a raggiungere l’osso, dando infezione (ascesso). Segno tipico dell’infezione è il gonfiore.

Le fasi della devitalizzazione

La devitalizzazione è composta da diverse fasi che nella maggior parte dei casi vengono divise in tre appuntamenti.

1° Appuntamento
In questo appuntamento viene creato un accesso al nervo dal dente, viene rimosso il nervo infiammato e messa una pasta disinfettante. È possibile avere un po’ di fastidio per 2/3 giorni, dovuto all’azione disinfettante della pasta.

2° Appuntamento
Viene pulito l’interno del dente con strumenti meccanici e sostante disinfettanti.
Il canale del dente ormai vuoto viene sigillato con una gomma naturale chiamata Guttaperca totalmente anallergica.

3° Appuntamento
Viene ricostruito il dente e l’accesso che avevamo creato con compositi o amalgama.

La Cura Endodontica viene divisa in più appuntamenti per migliorarne l’efficacia. Tra il primo e il secondo passano circa 20/30 giorni, in modo che la medicazione abbia il tempo di disinfettare alla perfezione sia i canali principali che eventuali canali secondari.
